Earn Money Offline? Earn it Online Too

October 23rd, 2007 by

I’ve written about earning money online quite a bit, but when I do, I’m usually talking to people looking for a new income or those who’ve never considered entrepreneuralism before. But you can also make money online if you currently have a traditional offline business. In fact, if you’re not already online, you’re missing an excellent opportunity for expansion.

So, I’m going to spend a few posts talking to people who have offline small or home-based businesses who want to know if (or why) they should expand online. If this is you, there are a few good reasons to do so.

  • Having your own website is widely viewed as a mark of a legitimate business nowadays. And it won’t cost you an arm and a leg to get a basic one posted.
  • If you can ship or deliver products or services digitally (like ghostwriting, copywriting, or web design), getting the extra volume from the Internet would help you greatly. Some businesses even conduct business solely on the Internet, like Amazon.com.
  • You spin off products related to the knowledge or skills gained from your offline business in the form of ebooks and training packages, and then sell them. Ebooks in particular lend themselves to this technique well. Information sells, and can be stuffed full of affiliate links besides. You can sell the ebook for a profit, have the affiliate links within it make you more money afterwards, then market to the list you collect with future offers promoting your business or affiliate programs. And all of this is due to the same product.

In my next few posts, I’ll go over each point in more detail. If you’ve ever thought about adding online strategies to your offline business, don’t miss it.
